Cyber Security term 5: Adware

An adware is another type of malicious program. This is what an adware does. For example, you see a free program. Then you download it. What you don’t know is that there is an adware attached to it.

Inside the program, there are lots of ads in it and you happen to click on one of the ads. After you click on the ad, it will install a malware into your computer or lead you to a webpage that requires you to sign in your private info such as your passwords or credit card information.

An adware can’t be installed unless you click on it. Remember, not all programs have an adware in them. But it is better to be safe than sorry and not to click on any ads or any other suspicious looking things inside a program.
