Cyber Security term 14: End-to-End Encryption

End-to-End Encryption is a method of protecting and securing communication that hinders third parties (a third party is like a third person coming into the conversation) from accessing data when it is transferred from one device to another. (Like texting)

For example, whenever you do some online shopping using your credit card or some other card your phone needs to send the credit card to the merchant.

It’s End-to-End Encryption method that just makes sure that only you and the merchant’s device can access the credit card info. So, another example of it is, you are chatting to a friend. The End-to-End Encryption method stops a hacker or someone else coming in between and intercepting the chat. Sort of like you are playing catch and monkey in the middle.
