Top Ten Biggest Spiders in the World

Arachnophobia is a fear of spiders. It’s very common, and if you have arachnophobia, you might want to turn away because today we will be looking at the top 10 biggest spiders in the world!

Number 10: Giant Huntsman Spider

These hairy giants are only found in Laos, and they have the longest leg span of all the spider species in the world! These spiders are known for being venomous, and like their name they are great huntsmen!

Number 9: Goliath Birdeater Tarantula

These spiders can have a legspan up to 11 inches! The Goliath Birdeater Tarantula is the biggest tarantula in the world, and weighs around 6 ounces, which is 175 grams.

Number 8: Hercules Baboon Spider

If any spider deserves to be called scary, it’s this one! The Hercules Baboon Spider is known throughout Africa for being gigantic and very aggressive. Their body spans can be up to 3.5 inches!

Number 7: Brazilian Salmon Pink Birdeater

The second spider with “birdeater” in its name on the list! Even with its name, it’s definitely not pink when it is fully grown. They are only pink when they are young. Although these spiders are considered quite docile, they can still deliver a deadly bite with its fangs. Keep in mind that the venom does not affect humans though!

Number 6: Grammostola Anthracina

Now THESE spiders are pink! Well, partly anyways. These spiders are popular pets due to their size and looks. They are also quite docile! They are known to live around 20 years when in captivity.

Number 5: Chaco Golden-Knee

These spiders really live up to their name! The Chaco Golden-Knee spiders don’t make webs. Instead, they are burrowers. Which means they dig little nests in the ground called burrows. Their diet consists of insects smaller than themselves.

Number 4: Colombian Giant Tarantula

The Colombian Giant Tarantula is also known as the Colombian Giant Redleg. Its legs are a red-orange, hence the name. These giants live throughout the Amazon Rainforest, of the northern Brazil and Colombia. Again, hence the “Colombia” part of its name it was named the Colombian Giant Tarantula.

Number 3: Face-Sized Tarantula

Their bite is not particularly deadly to humans, but it has enough venom to kill smaller animals such as mice, lizards, small birds and snakes before eating them.

Number 2: Camel Spider

Now keep in mind that this is not actually a spider. It is an arachnid though. It has a very painful bite, but it doesn’t have any venom. There is also certainly no death from its bite!

Number 1: Brazilian Wandering Spider

The Brazilian Wandering Spiders said to have the world’s most toxic spider venom. It got its name from wandering around on the jungle floor at night, instead of building a web!
