Weird Dog’s Adoption

This is Weird Dog. He is very, very weird. But he is also not adopted yet.

Weird Dog currently lives in this ugly (Weird Dog thinks that it is ugly anyways.) place called Sunnyside Animal Shelter.
One day, a lady came into the animal shelter and asked the worker for a dog. Her name was Mrs. Adams she wanted the strangest dog that the shelter currently took care of.

So, the worker took Mrs. Adams to Weird Dog. (He wasn’t called Weird Dog before, but he was called Benji instead.) “This is Benji.” The worker said. “He is the strangest dog we have here.” “Oh dear,” said Mrs. Adams. “Benji is not a good name for him.” “I will name him Weird Dog.”

The worker there shook her head in disbelief but let Mrs. Adams take Weird Dog home.
On the car ride home, Mrs. Adams sang happily with the radio while Weird Dog sulked inside his pet car carrier.

At home, Mrs. Adams cheerfully told Mr. Adams that she had found the perfect dog. When Mr. Adams tried to stroke Weird Dog, Weird Dog shook Mr. Adams hand instead.

After some days, Weird Dog settled in with Mrs. and Mr. Adams. They took him to the store and when they tried to buy Weird Dog some dog food, he insisted on buying cat food instead.

And when they tried to buy him some jingly balls, he insisted on buying some squeaky mice instead. “Weird Dog acts like a cat.” Commented Mr. Adams. “But that just makes him live up to his name!”

When they tried to make him play with the other neighborhood dogs, they instead found him lounging on a fence with the cats.

Mrs. and Mr. Adams decided that it was best to treat Weird Dog like a cat instead. So that’s what they did. And that is how Weird Dog got adopted.
