Cyber Security term 47: Autorun worms

Autorun worms are a type of malicious attack vector that hackers dismantle most commonly through flash drives, USB. Autorun worms are also known as Autoruns, or Autoplay viruses.

Once an autorun worm is launched, it can spread itself to other devices by copying itself. Some malicious attacks that autorun worms can perform are listed below;

  • Steal sensitive information
  • Install additional malwares into the infected device
  • Modifying the computer
  • Disabling security software
